pyweek registration is open. For the biannual game jam. http://www.pyweek.org/23/ Which means you can join, and put your self in a team, or join up as a solo entrant. Spend a week(part time) finishing a game using python. Sunday 19th of February to Sunday 26th of February. It is inspired by the ludumdare 48h comps, but people only use python, it is a week long, and there can be teams. Over 100 entrants joined in on the fun previous competitions. Enter to have a chance to prototype your next game, or see if working in a team will work on a small project. Or just have a break, to get your creative juices going, and to feel all of the energy of 100+ people simultaneously feeding off each others creations. http://www.pyweek.org/23/ It's also a great way to learn, and have fun with python. It's possibly the best way to improve your programming skills, and game making skills there is. Timetable Friday 2017/01/20 Pre-registration underway Sunday 2017/0...

Pyweek 12 – April 3rd-April 10th Find out more about PyWeek - " Invites entrants to write a game in one week from scratch either as an individual or in a team. Is intended to be challenging and fun. Will hopefully increase the public body of game tools code and expertise. Will let a lot of people actually finish a game. May inspire new projects (with ready made teams!) "

pyweek #9 - week games, not weak games.

Pyweek is a game^H^H^H^H competition where you make a game in a week. You've probably heard of it(in which case ignore the rest of the words below, and above). Some people call them sprints, other people call them jams, and other people call them battles, or game development competitions. Pyweek is not really a battle, or Nerd-Jam® and not even really a competition, but a big-warm-hug of a week: making games with around 100 people from all over the world. You get to throw off the shackles of your boring web development job, and be creative (kinda like fight club, but with zombies). There's so much energy during the week, with lots of feed back, ideas and screen shots flying this way and that. It's a bit intoxicating. Individuals, and teams can take part. Some crazy people even take part in both a team, and do a solo entry. Timetable Friday 2009/07/31 Registration open Sunday 2009/08/23 Theme voting commences Sunday 2009/08/30 Challenge start Sunday 2009/09/06 Challe...

My pyweek postmortem. Making a game in a week.

Pyweek , finished recently, and was a real blast... as usual. Congrats to everyone who took part, pyweek was really fun! I look forward to playing everyones games (I've only got through around ten so far). 'Eye stabs' was our team name. We didn't post a final entry. Our game isn't really at the stage where we'd like it to be... There's still a number of core features required before it's a 'game'. At the moment, it's kind of a fun intro, and a demo of what the game could be. For me, recently these competitions have been about experimenting, rather than finishing a game. Getting a buzz off everyone else's energy as they create something in a small amount of time. These competitions are also really good for 'finishing' a game... since they have a finish built in. When the week has ended it's finished. So we'll make a release some time in the next few weeks. Because we want to show everyone... but not before the basic ele...
